Salicylic Acid Acacia Senegal Gum: A stereoscopic macromolecular acid for oil control and acne treatment

Introduction:

DropCare^® 3D-SA is a water-soluble cosmetic acne ingredient obtained by Acacia Senegal Gum wrapped in Salicylic Acid.

Salicylic acid is lipophilic monohydroxybenzoic acid, as a small molecule acid, highly permeable, can be used alone topically. Salicylic acid belongs to the β-hydroxy acid and is derived from the metabolism of salicin. Salicylin is found in willow bark and sweet birch trees in nature.

There are two sources of gum arabic, which are produced from the gum arabic tree and the acacia tree. Products from gum arabic have left-handed (L-type) optical rotation, and products from acacia trees have right-handed (R-type) optical rotation.

L-gum arabic has a more complete and stable molecular complexation effect on salicylic acid due to steric hindrance effect. Our test data show that the selection of a suitable molecular weight L-body gum arabic final product has better light resistance and thermal stability.
